Team Services provides specialized education programs to support careers in the marine industry. Our USCG-certified Tankerman-PIC and Dangerous Liquids (DL) School, combined with hands-on apprenticeship training, equip students with the skills and credentials required to succeed. We also offer tuition assistance to help apprentices launch their marine service careers safely and efficiently.

Tankerman-PIC /
DL School

Our tankerman school is designed to meet the U.S. Coast Guard requirements for obtaining the Merchant Mariner Credential. Tankerman school is offered to prospective apprentices as well as to customers.

Our experienced, certified instructors lead courses in U.S. Coast Guard-certified DL School, Tankerman PIC, Fresh Air Safety Observer, Field Certification, and Firefighting Training.

Apprenticeship

Are you new to the industry? The Team Services Apprenticeship Program is designed to bring you up to a DL/FF credentialed Tankerman-PIC.

Our 6-month course includes:

  • Classroom and Field Training to meet the USCG transfer requirements.
  • Attendance of Team Services USCG Certified Dangerous Liquids Tankerman-PIC Class
  • Attendance of USCG Certified FireFighting Class

Education FAQS

How long does the Apprentice program take?

The apprentice program is a six-month long program designed to give a person the skills and knowledge needed to become a fully licensed tankerman.

What do I need to become an apprentice?

 Applicants must possess: 

  • A valid driver's license
  • Transportation worker identification card (T.W.I.C)
  • Complete pre-employment background check and physical

What training will I go through as an apprentice?

Apprentices will go through a one week orientation, introduction to industry and field acclimation, on-the-job training period followed by a USCG dangerous liquids and firefighting class.

Where do I have to go for training?

All apprentices will be required to visit multiple industrial worksites in their area during the training period, with the classroom instructional period being at our main office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Does it cost to attend a training program?

Yes. Apprentices will be responsible for paying a portion of the tuition upon being hired. For more details on costs, as well as more information on loan assistance, please call 225-771-8915.
